Request #1: The niece of a friend, Amber, is suicidal. She was at the hospital monday. Her mom nearly had her committed. She has promised not to hurt herself. They are getting her a therapist. She is overwhelmed with school & work. Feels like there's nothing to live for. Cries herself to sleep, not eating. She is 17.

Request #2: Anonymous- The Lord's will for financial decisions. For peace in whatever happens and contentment with less.

Request #3: Ok, this one includes me! We leave for Honduras on Sept. 22nd!! Several people still need $ on their trips and we have soooo much stuff to take!! We have the backpacks full of supplies the vbs kids made as well as books and Bibles in Spanish, And none of that includes all the actual Motocross supplies for camp and the race!!

Praise! The lady we prayed for with the procedure, came through it very well and is home now resting!! Let's pray for healing and no further issues.

iPrayer Aug 22 Some Urgent

August 22, 2012
To the Prayer Princesses...
Dear iPrayerLady,

Thanks for your continued willingness to take a second and pray! Remember, don't feel guilty when you don't have time! Skip it and move on! Or say a "Lord You know these needs, please Let Your Will be done." and go on with your day.
But, when you have time, just think of the impact a couple minutes of prayer, multiplied by the number of us there are, could have!
Thanks!!

Requests: walk on water

Request #1: Please pray for our friend who doesn't want to share but does want your prayers on her behalf! She is having the wretched procedure today!! Courage and Peace! (And good news from the doctor too!)
Request #2: Courtney's Mom is starting her Chemo. Ugg. Let's pray it is very successful and not anywhere near as bad as she fears.
Request #3: Mr. Baker, the father of a co-worker, is suddenly having lots of heath issues that they cannot figure out. He is sleeping all the time, coughing, and now they are saying there is a spot on his lungs. He has to be taken as soon (let's pray soon!) as the doctor can get him in for an MRI. He is 81, and has a history of multiple heart bypasses.
Request #4: The father in law of Barbara's daughter is being treated for lung cancer. Let's remember him as he goes through all that is involved in treating him. They did surgery already and he is recovering slowly.
Request #5: The image above reminds me of a request for Financial Security. Many families in our circle (and everywhere) are in real need of a little padding in those accounts! School is back in session and the bills start rolling in! Pray for the Lord's provision for us all and that we will remember to Trust Him. He has a real plan for all of us individually, we just have to accept it, and be patient!!
Request #6: The 17 year old who recently had the little boy a month ago has been fighting a bug, (temp of 101.3 a few days ago!) starting back to school, and finding out that her "friends" have moved on with their lives.
~ Or perhaps, she has moved on with hers. :-)  ~
I want to be sure we all remember her as she attempts to finish high school without sleep, time to do homework, and now without the compassion of the friends she had before this all began. Plus, I can remember not knowing what to do in the middle of the night when I had a fever, a newborn, and felt so bad I couldn't think straight. I was 27, not 17. I can't imagine the pressure she is under.

Urgent: This Came In As I Was Sending!!

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A young boy is being treated for burns after he pulled a pan containing hot oil off a stove.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 3300 block of Garland Avenue near the intersection with Louis Coleman Jr. Drive around 11:20 a.m.

According to a Louisville Metro Police officer at the scene, when the boy, age 1, grabbed the pan, the hot oil spilled on the right side of his face and body.

The child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment of burns believed to be second degree.

Just A Note for Fun cow phone

I wanted to share a little story in case it makes your day better too. We had such fun last night in our Wednesday Night Bible Study. We meet every week at 7pm and talk about all kinds of topics, and whoever shows up is our group for the night.

So, last night Derema wanted very much to come, as her husband Don is teaching us all what he has learned on Isaiah from Seminary. But, sadly she got stuck working all day down in Bowling Green, KY, which is at least 2 hours away.

Then, Don and Derema had the idea of getting her on speaker phone while she drove home! So, sure enough, we got connected (after several wrong numbers and mix-ups...) and she was able to plug the phone into the car stereo and listen in the whole way home!! She even picked up to ask questions or answer a few times.
The best part was right in the middle of some question I was asking, here she came walking in!! She made it all the way home and sat down to enjoy one of Patty's coconut brownies and be apart of prayer requests.
Love Technology....Like this!!!
Imagine Moses posting the 10 Commandments to his blog...and the comments that would have followed... :-)

Grafted In Necklace from Israel
Guess what this girl's got for you
Many women who traveled with me to Israel last fall brought home jewelry featuring three Jewish and Christian symbols forged into a single design that goes back to the second century and is commonly called "Grafted In."
The name comes from a message Paul gave the young church in Rome, reminding the Gentiles, "you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root."
Those of us not counted among the descendants of Jacob have been grafted in, such that we too are called "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God." Breathtaking to consider, isn't it?
Here's more happy news: I brought home four of these beautiful sterling silver necklaces from Israel to share with you! Identify the chapter and verse of the two New Testament passages I've quoted above, then click here to enter the contest. On October 1st I'll choose four winners at random from all the correct entries received. Can't wait to see you wearing this beautiful, meaningful necklace!
The Girl's Still Got It Video Bible Study
Three fun ways to take a walk with Ruth
  1. On DVD: Two dozen girlfriends gathered in Nashville to tape our video Bible study for The Girl's Still Got It. What a great group! The DVD is two hours long, divided into twelve segments, one for each chapter of the book. Simply let it roll, and I'll teach you the story of Ruth, or you can play a segment each time you meet with friends to study God's Word. Here's our free Bible study how-to guide for The Girl's Still Got It.
   2. Online: This Wednesday, August 22nd grab a cuppa and join me online at 12noon EDT for an entertaining Livestream Event! I'll be streaming via webcam from my writing study, sharing some fun insider stories about my new book, The Girl's Still Got It, offering a few heartfelt words of hope and encouragement, and answering your questions. It's free, it's fun, and it's easy to listen in.
   3. On my blog: September 5th I'll be kicking off my new Bible Study Blog. Whee! Every Wednesday this autumn I'll be walking through The Girl's Still Got It with you, one chapter each week. I'll offer my answers to some of the Study Guide questions, and hope you'll jump in as well.
Righteous Ruth Rap by Liz Curtis Higgs
For busy girls like us, this i s a Bible study that works—at home or on the road, at your computer or on your smartphone. Read the chapter when you can, check the blog when you like, and share your thoughts when you're ready. Just sign up for my blog and we'll start rocking!

And speaking of rocking...
You gotta check out my Righteous Ruth Rap on YouTube. It's the whole book of Ruth in four minutes. Has the girl still got it? I'll let you be the judge of that!
We videotaped the rap in Little Rock, Arkansas, surprising the audience when I launched into it at the start of the final session. They surprised me in turn: when I started rapping, they started clapping, meaning I had to keep up with the beat. Oh baby! Way too fun.
The Girl's Still Got It
You'll find the lyrics to my rap in the back pages of The Girl's Still Got It. Haven't picked up a copy yet? Look for it on the shelves of your favorite Christian bookstore or order it from Amazon, ChristianBook, or Barnes & Noble.
Of the 30 books I've written, this truly is my favorite. Publishers Weekly kindly called it, "A perfect blend of humor, extensive research, descriptive language, and insightful commentary."
What I really want to know is what you think. Share your thoughts with me on Facebook or Twitter, or post your comments on one of the bookseller websites above. You are the reason I run to my desk each morning, beloved. Your feedback truly matters.
Until we connect again, here's a heartfelt hug from your Lizzie in Louisville!
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Romans 15:4

iPrayer Back to School

iPrayer Ladies
Back to School Time
 8/15/12
Thanks for reading our Back to School Issue of iPrayer Ladies! As you go into the Fall and on into the Holidays, we hope you will keep your ears, eyes, and emails open for people around you who are in need of specific prayer requests! For that matter, people who need general prayer! (Who doesn't?)

As always, if these emails come to frequently, feel free to drop me a line and say, "put me on the once a week (or month) version please!" or if this has become a time in your life where your inbox is busier than your time allows, tell me and we will take you off the list for awhile!
Share Share Share these requests with the Ladies in your life!

Request #1: Patty- Having eye surgery this morning! "They are removing a pterygium (sun burn on my eye / growth) and then graphing from my upper eye ball to cover it, then graphing skin from my upper eye lid to create a wall in the corner of my eye (you won't see it) so that it acts as a barrier so that it can't grow back. Any who.. if you could say a prayer for me.. I'm just a little nervous about going under and then there is the concern of my eye being cut on..."

Request #2: One of the ladies in our group asked for prayer regarding an upcoming appeal of a court decision. She and her husband were slammed by the courts last year. A medical malpractice suit, which everyone involved, and even news reports (some of which had picked up the story from around the world,) agreed that this was an open and shut case in favor of her husband, the patient. But, not only did the courts side with the doctor, they did not even give her family a penny to help with their extensive court and legal costs. Everyone was shocked.

The appeal court date is Sept. 11, and it is desperately urgent that the courts reverse this decision. It was a significant risk financially, emotionally, (and for their dignity) to go through with the trial after all they had endured, but they did so with the assurance that it was "the right thing to do". To then also be denied help, was shocking.

Request #3: Back to School means back to stress for our kiddos. (And parents!) Let's pray for a sense of peace and organization for the kids. The kids and parents need to start off on a good foot with teachers, administration, and classmates. Let's pray for safety for them all, big and little, as they go to and from school this year. Let's pray for focus, fun, and learning. And let's not forget to pray for the adults involved all around.

School Jokes:

~My son, Mitchell, a kindergartener, practices spelling with magnetic letters on the refrigerator: "cat," "dog," "dad," and "mom" have been proudly displayed for all to see. One morning while getting ready for the day, Mitchell bounded into the room with his arms outstretched. In his hands were three magnetic letters: G-O-D. "Look what I spelled, Mom!" Mitch exclaimed, a proud smile on his face. "That's wonderful!" I said. "Now go put them on the fridge so Dad can see when he gets home tonight." That Christian education is certainly having an impact, I thought, happily. Just then, a little voice called from the kitchen. "Mom? How do you spell 'zilla?'"

~One morning a mother was trying to wake up her son. "Wake up now! It's time to go to school." "I don't want to go to school," the son replied. His mother said, "Give me two reasons why you don't want to go to school." "Okay. One, all the children hate me. Two, all the teachers hate me." "Not good enough," the mother replied. "Fine," the son said. "Then you give me two good reasons why I SHOULD go to school." "One, you're 50 years old. Two, you're the principal of the school."

~The new family in the neighborhood overslept and their six-year-old daughter missed her school bus. The father, though late for work himself, had to drive her. Since he did not know the way, he said that she would have to direct him to the school. They rode several blocks before she told him to turn the first time, several more before she indicated another turn. This went on for 20 minutes - but when they finally reached the school, it proved to be only a short distance from their home. The father, much annoyed, asked his daughter why she'd led him around in such a circle. The child explained, "That's the way the school bus goes, Daddy. It's the only way I know."

Unspoken And Urgent

Three frustrating requests:

All of these people need urgent prayer, two do not want to share their situations, one is too involved right now to ask. Thus frustrating! How to ask without asking!!

So...

Request #1: For great news from a doctor.

Request #2: Fast healing and willingness to be still and rest!

Request #3: Terrible news someone is having to share and comfort for everyone involved.

Out of respect for privacy I cannot share anymore. Yes, even to you! So don't message me "ooh ooh tell me!" Cause I can't. ;-)

All kidding aside let's stop whatever we are doing and pray for God's Will in all three of these situations right now.

Thanks
